Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Robotics Engineer for John Deere in Urbandale, IA, you will:

  • Develop, enhance, and deliver fast, efficient, and reliable automation and autonomy solutions in John Deere’s agricultural and construction industrial fields using cutting-edge digital technologies;
  • Develop C++ based embedded software applications, (including modern C++ syntax, patterns, practices);
  • Develop automated tests and framework for embedded software applications;
  • Develop python and bash based scripts to supplement the software development;
  • Interface with Linux development environment;
  • Develop multi-threaded software applications;
  • Data storage, analysis and management.
  • Up to 20% domestic travel required.

What Skills You Need

  • 2 years of experience in design, develop, and debug software for embedded systems using tools like GDB or Valgrind
  • 5 years of experience in design software application and framework in C++ programming language using tools like Cmake, compiler toolchains and various Integrated Development Environments like Visual Studio, QtCreator, or PyCharm
  • 2 years of experience in design, debug and analyze Real-Time Operating Systems
  • 2 years of experience in design and develop multi-threaded software applications handling concurrency, task scheduling and low-level hardware interaction
  • 5 years of experience in write test frameworks to perform unit testing, functional testing, integration testing and automated testing for C++ based software applications using Google Test
  • 2 years of experience in ability to operate large agricultural equipment such as Combines and understand the various necessities and steps involved in agricultural harvest

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field plus 5 years related experience.
