**Position: Senior Center Activity Assistant (Part-time/Non-Exempt)**
**Supervisor:**
This position reports directly to the Senior Center Director.
**Hours:**
Flexible schedule with varying day hours and weekend availability.
**Salary:**
Starting at $10.00 per hour.
**Nature of Work:**
As a Senior Center Activity Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Senior Center Director and Assistant Director in creating and implementing a diverse range of recreational, educational, and social activities tailored to the interests and abilities of individuals aged 60 and over. This position requires both independent work and collaboration within a team to achieve the goals of the organization and the Lancaster County Office of Aging.
**General Duties and Responsibilities:**
- Lead and actively participate in daily programming at the senior center.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of participants and community volunteers.
- Oversee the lunch program to ensure a positive experience for all attendees.
- Capture photos of activities for marketing purposes, including social media and written communications.
- Foster cooperation among participants and encourage their engagement in activities.
- Utilize planning and administrative time effectively in the afternoons.
- Maintain accurate records and complete reports in a timely manner (e.g., AAA reports).
- Assess the needs of participants who may be experiencing difficulties and address these appropriately, involving directors or other relevant authorities when necessary.
- Educate participants about fundraising efforts and encourage their involvement in planning and executing successful events to support the senior center's budget.
- Assist in evaluating the outcomes of programs to ensure continuous improvement.
- Participate in team meetings, staff meetings, and training sessions.
- Coordinate transportation for participants as needed.
- Stay informed about current county and state Senior Center Program Directive (APD) requirements.
- Communicate effectively with participants, coworkers, and the public to foster a welcoming environment.
- Ensure a safe environment for all activities at the senior center.
- Perform light cleaning duties as necessary.
**Education, Experience & Special Requirements:**
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook.
- Willingness to learn and utilize Co-pilot, our online data tracking system.
- Preferred experience working with older adults.
- Current or willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
- Current or willingness to obtain ServSafe Certification.
- All applicants will undergo background checks and clearances.
**Physical Demands & Working Environment:**
The physical demands of this position include the ability to perform essential functions such as mobility in a typical office setting, lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and the ability to read printed materials and computer screens. Effective communication skills, both in person and over the telephone, are also essential.
