The Agricultural Outreach Specialist position is integral to the success of the Local Farm and Food Innovation (F3Local.org) Initiative, serving as a catalyst for positive change within the agricultural landscape of the Central Valley Region. This role encompasses a diverse array of responsibilities aimed at supporting small to midsize farmers throughout the Central Valley region. The Specialist will provide hands-on technical assistance directly to farmers, particularly those operating small-scale operations. This involves identifying challenges within the agricultural supply chain, especially as it relates to the in-field/production and helping guide the development of tailored solutions to promote sustainability, profitability, and resilience in the face of climate change. The Specialist will support capacity building through training sessions and workshops, where farmers and growers can acquire new skills and knowledge to enhance their productivity and competitiveness in the market. The Agricultural Production Specialist will coordinate these educational events and initiatives to share valuable insights into the latest technologies and sustainable farming practices. The Agricultural Production Specialist will prioritize the development, design, and evaluation of educational materials, with a particular focus on training opportunities and demonstrations related to production technologies and create and deliver presentations, employing effective methods to enhance outreach and participation.

The Specialist will spearhead program evaluation, needs assessments, and strategic planning efforts, all aimed at scaling up farm and food production training initiatives across the region and will assist their direct supervisor with research activities, data management, program evaluation, and report compilation to demonstrate program reach and impacts across the state. By collaborating closely with the Research-Industry Liaison Coordinator, the Specialist will play a pivotal role in cultivating a strong network of farmers and growers, agricultural organizations and governmental entities, fostering collaboration, inclusion and knowledge exchange. The Agricultural Outreach Specialist role offers a unique opportunity to effect tangible change within the agricultural sector, driving innovation, fostering sustainability, and empowering local farmers to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape.
