JOB SUMMARY

The Art in Action: Creative Entrepreneurship internship is a 12-week immersive experience for young artists and creatives from South Los Angeles. Presented by the SoLa Foundation in partnership with the LA County Department of Arts and Culture and The Michael Latt Legacy Fund, this program honors Michael Latt's life and advocacy by empowering emerging “artivists”—artists who fuse creativity with social impact.

Participants will engage in workshops, creative labs, and masterclasses led by renowned artists and entrepreneurs of color. Each participant will also receive funding and mentorship to develop a community-centered art project that will be featured in a culminating public showcase.

PARTICIPANT EXPECTATIONS & COMMITMENT

Participants must be able to commit to:

• Program Duration: April 14 – July 11, 2025
• Weekly Commitment: 4 hours/week
• Meeting Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays, in person at the SoLa Tech & Entrepreneurship Center
• Mondays: Workshop-style classes focused on skill-building (e.g., grant writing, budgeting, marketing, digital media, etc.)
• Wednesdays: Studio/lab sessions to develop and execute personal art projects and fireside chats/workshops with guest creatives
• Final Showcase: Public exhibition on July 11, 2025

Requirements

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must:

• Be between the ages of 16 and 22
• Reside in or have a strong connection to South Los Angeles
• Demonstrate interest in both creative arts and social justice advocacy
• Have experience or interest in any creative discipline (e.g., film, photography, mixed media, spoken word, fashion, fine art, graphic design)
• Be able to attend all in-person sessions at the SoLa Foundation campus
