Position Summary: The Baker is responsible for preparing, baking, and decorating a variety of baked goods and desserts in accordance with established recipes and specifications. This role involves maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation while ensuring that baked goods are prepared in a timely and efficient manner. Key Responsibilities: * Baking and Preparation: * Measure and combine ingredients to prepare doughs, batters, icings, and fillings. * Use mixers, blenders, ovens, and other equipment to make baked goods. * Follow recipes and instructions accurately to ensure product consistency. * Menu Development: * Develop new recipes and baked goods to expand the menu. * Experiment with flavors, ingredients, and presentation techniques. * Quality Control: * Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality and taste standards. * Adjust recipes and baking techniques as necessary to achieve desired results. * Inventory Management: * Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed. * Maintain records of ingredients used and products made. * Sanitation and Safety: * Clean and maintain baking equipment and work areas. * Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. * Customer Interaction: * Respond to customer inquiries and special requests. * Provide excellent customer service and ensure customer satisfaction. * Training and Supervision: * Train new staff members on baking techniques and kitchen procedures. * Oversee and assist with the work of junior bakers and kitchen assistants. * Time Management: * Plan and prioritize tasks to ensure that all baked goods are prepared and delivered on schedule. * Manage time effectively to balance multiple tasks and deadlines. Qualifications: * Experience: * Previous experience as a baker or in a similar role is preferred. * Experience with various baking techniques and recipes. * Skills: * Strong attention to detail and an eye for presentation. * Excellent time management and organizational skills. * Proficiency in using baking tools and equipment. * Knowledge: * Understanding of baking techniques and food safety regulations. * Familiarity with ingredient functions and flavor profiles. * Personal Attributes: * Creativity and a passion for baking. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
