Compensation

Minimum start is $28.00 per hour. PHN recognizes experience, education, and site location when determining wage.

 

Location and Hours of Position

This position will be working in Schuylkill and Northumberland County. Travel required. General hours for the position are 8:30am-5:00pm.

 

Position Overview

A Registered Nurse (RN) Community Health Nurse works to promote the overall wellness of individuals and communities through education, advocacy and delivery of care. The CHN promotes healthy lifestyle choices by instituting health screenings, wellness projects and provides education on disease management and prevention.

Developing relationships helps the CHN address health disparities within marginalized communities by focusing on the environmental, physical, and social determinants of health. The CHN also builds individual and community capacity through cultural mediation and by increasing the knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, and advocacy.

 

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN): Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Current unrestricted Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current CPR Healthcare Certification
  • Ability to demonstrate competency in nursing skills, assessment and decision making
  • Knowledge, skill and ability to provide routine immunizations based on CDC and CDPH recommendations.
  • Knowledge, skill and ability to monitor vaccine storage and handling guidelines.
  • Ability to demonstrate self-discipline and work independently
  • Ability to work over a wide range of areas in a diverse community
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Creative and analytical thinking
  • Ability to work under pressure calmly and efficiently, coping with variable workloads, intermittent delays and emotionally charged situations
