Job Description

Join one of the world’s premier foreign language institutes in the stunning coastal city of Monterey, California, as a Foreign Language Teacher- Russian (Senior Instructor ). This Institute, which is a Foreign Language Center, offers an enriching, intensive, and student-centered environment that champions both student success and faculty development. This role provides the unique opportunity to work in an immersion-based setting, teaching Russian language and cultural topics while utilizing the latest educational technologies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach Russian language skills, including listening, reading, writing, and speaking, within an immersive, high-energy environment.
  • Integrate geopolitical, economic, and social issues of Russian-speaking regions into the curriculum, enhancing students' cultural competency.
  • Utilize technology-enhanced teaching methods, including Smart Boards, iPads, and online resources, to deliver engaging lessons and homework assignments.
  • Develop, organize, and adapt teaching materials using computer software to meet curriculum goals.
  • Stay updated on current foreign language teaching theories, methodologies, and technologies to maintain a high standard of instruction.

Requirements

  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in both Russian and English, with strong oral and written communication skills in both languages.
  • Educational Background:
    • Master’s degree in any discipline OR
    • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least one year of experience in language instruction.
  • Experience: Previous experience in formal classroom instruction (high school level or above), including lesson preparation, course modification, testing, tutoring, and structured counseling.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using digital resources and classroom technology, such as Smart Boards and online platforms.

Conditions of Employment

  • Work Authorization: U.S. citizens or non-U.S. citizens with a valid U.S. work authorization.
  • Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation.
  • Term Appointment: This is a tenure-track, time-limited position for up to 36 months, subject to mission needs, funding, and management discretion.
