Job Summary

Reporting to the supervisor of the ADOSH Whistleblower/Investigation Unit, this position is responsible for conducting retaliation investigations under the jurisdiction of the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health state plan program. The investigator will conduct complex investigations to determine compliance with Arizona Revised Statue 23-425.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct investigations to determine compliance with Arizona Revised Statute
  • 23-425, to include conducting on-site interviews, collecting evidence and statements, employee agreements and compensation packages.
  • Conducts initial intakes on notices of discrimination complaints and completes required intake forms. Prepare, send and track written communication with involved parties to gather pertinent information to resolve a complaint.
  • Continuous correspondence with complainants and respondents by phone, email, mail or in person in relation to an ongoing investigation.
  • Evaluate data collected and make recommendations based on the evidence whether a violation of Arizona Revised Statute
  • 23-425 has occurred and whether the case should be pursued by our ICA Legal Division upon recommendation of the Industrial Commission.
  • Attending, contributing and offering solutions to the Arizona Management System (AMS) in place for the Whistleblower/Investigations section. This includes small projects to improve upon a current policy and procedure in ADOSH.
  • Attend and complete scheduled training classes to improve upon skills necessary to enhance knowledge in the field. Research, schedule and conduct training within ADOSH compliance to build upon and enhance investigator's knowledge and skills.

Selective Preference(s)

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related safety and/or health field from an accredited college or university OR three years experience conducting complex regulatory, law enforcement or private investigations. Training in legal procedures pertaining to regulatory, law enforcement or private investigations.
  • Completed courses/training in investigation techniques and procedures
  • Completed training in legal procedures pertaining to regulatory, law enforcement or private investigations.


Pre-Employment Requirements

Arizona Driver's License:

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Retirement

You will be eligible to participate in the state employee health/disability insurance plan, and you are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). ASRS participation may begin immediately or upon your 27th week of employment. Contributions are matched by the employer.
