Founded in 1998, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) is located in Malden, MA and serves over 1,600 students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Our students in Grades K-12 follow a dress code and are in school for 200 days of instruction each year, an extra 20 days compared to most public schools. Our extended school day of 60 additional minutes allows us to deliver a comprehensive, world-class education.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated K-6th Grade Elementary Teacher to join our team. This role includes both classroom instruction and support responsibilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality education through Direct Instruction and Core Knowledge curricula. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain a structured and engaging daily classroom schedule.

  • Foster a positive and productive classroom environment by adhering to the 4:1 Ratio of Positive Comments for behavior management.

  • Effectively implement Direct Instruction and Core Knowledge curricula to meet the academic needs of students.

  • Document daily lesson plans and track student progress, submitting weekly updates to the Professional Development Coordinator.

  • Track the successes and challenges of Core Knowledge lessons and report them weekly to the PDC.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development training and apply new learning in the classroom.

  • Attend and actively participate in weekly grade-level team meetings, Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings (weekly/bi-weekly), and bi-monthly staff meetings.

  • Attend Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings as necessary and ensure all accommodations and modifications are implemented.

  • Complete all required special education documentation for IEPs and 504 plans.

  • Prepare and issue four progress reports and four report cards for students in homeroom and specialty classes, including grading for any academic group students.

  • Conduct and attend four parent-teacher conferences per year (two in the spring and two in the fall).

  • Participate in school events, including “Back to School Night,” open houses, Holiday Performance, and the High School Senior Luncheon.

  • Assist with morning, lunch/recess, and afternoon duties as assigned.

  • Support and enforce all school policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or school administration.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze data and make informed decisions.

  • Ability to follow all school policies and adhere to state and federal regulations, as well as MVRCS policies.

  • Collaborative, leadership, and teaching skills to effectively work with students, staff, and families.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of organization and balance multiple responsibilities.

  • Successful completion of MTEL tests within one year of employment.

  • Ability to plan and implement lessons that align with district and school objectives.
