Lead Web Designer & Strategist

This isn't just a web design job. It's your chance to own, shape, and lead all of the website services at our small agency. At Nuphoriq, you'll be at the center of creating stunning, high-performing websites from scratch—leading strategy, design, content, and launch.

We're looking for a strategist and leader, not "just" a designer. Someone who owns projects from initial client conversations through to successful launch and beyond.

The Role You'll lead the entire website creation process: from developing strategies and designing stunning websites to collaborating seamlessly with developers and content creators. Your job isn't done until the site launches and achieves the client's business goals—which are different every time.

You won't be waiting for instructions—you'll be setting the direction and taking initiative to make every project exceptional. This is a leadership role—you are not just a designer; you are the strategic force behind the success of every website we create.

What You'll Do

• Lead Website Strategy & Creation
  Own projects from initial strategy to launch, ensuring each website positions our clients as market leaders. Coordinate designers, developers, and copywriters to deliver cohesive and effective websites.
• Client & Project Leadership
  Work directly with clients to clearly define business goals and translate them into compelling website strategies.
  Present strategies and designs to clients and internal teams.
  Ensure each website delivers strategic results aligned with client objectives.
• Design & Branding
  Design custom websites from scratch, including comprehensive brand identities (fonts, colors, guidelines).
  Create engaging forms, interactive tools, and intuitive features optimized for conversions.
  Mentor and develop our junior designer.
• Content & SEO Optimization
  Oversee or personally create website content that is brand-aligned, optimized for SEO, and built to convert visitors into customers.
• Website Management & Improvement
  Proactively manage ongoing website updates, analytics reporting, and performance improvements.
  Continuously enhance websites based on client objectives, analytics insights, and conversion optimization (CRO) experiments.
• Process & Service Innovation
  Refine and optimize web design and development processes to boost efficiency and quality.
  Develop streamlined design systems and frameworks for similar projects.
  Build and manage a talented team of designers, developers, and freelancers.
  Lead innovation to keep our agency ahead of industry trends.

Skills

• Leadership & Project Ownership – You confidently manage teams, projects, and are accountable for results.
• Web & Graphic Design – Strategic and visually compelling design with clear business goals.
• Website Strategy – Align websites effectively with brand goals, audience, and market positioning.
• On-Site SEO – Implement SEO best practices throughout design.
• Conversion Optimization – Design to maximize engagement, lead generation, and sales.
• Copywriting & Content Strategy – Craft or effectively direct creation of persuasive, goal-oriented web content.
• WordPress & Front-End Basics – Proficiency with WordPress and basic HTML/CSS/JS.
• Google Analytics & Data Interpretation – Leverage data to continuously optimize site performance.

Requirements

• 6+ years experience creating websites, bonus points for agency experience.
• 3 or more live websites you can share where you were responsible for 95%+ of the design.

Specifics

• This is a full-time hybrid role. Mondays in our Chicagoland area office are required, with up to 4 other required office days per month.
