If you have a passion for helping children and families, apply now! As a caseworker, you will be providing protective and supportive services for abused and/or neglected children within Fayette County.
The position is responsible for investigating reports of mistreatment and abuse of children and providing for the safety of those children. This position is responsible for completing data entry to maintain case documentation for case records. The caseworker will provide crisis intervention where appropriate, assuming on-call duties and responsibilities on a rotational basis. The caseworker will also perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor. Training and Caseworker Certification are required to be completed after employment begins.
Work Schedule and Additional Information: - Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 1-hour lunch.
- Overtime, after-hours work, and on-call are mandatory.
- You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 1 day a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown.
- Telework (1) one scheduled day per week after approval of supervisor and must hold regular status as Caseworker 1.
Annual salary starts at $46,878 plus overtime and on-call pay. After the completion of eighteen (18) months, the employee will earn County Caseworker 2 certification with an annual salary of $52,202.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: - Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements: - PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
- Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Fayette County. If no eligible candidates who live within Fayette County apply for this position, candidates who reside in Greene, Somerset, Washington, or Westmoreland counties may be considered. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

Legal Requirements: - A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
