Job Title: Psychiatric Registered Nurse
Location: Gastonia, NC
Duration: 12 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift – 12 Hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Schedule: 3 shifts per week (rotating weekends as needed)
We are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Emergency Department of a high-volume, fast-paced regional medical center. The ideal candidate must have prior experience working in a large, busy ER setting and be prepared to hit the ground running. This role requires a confident, quick-thinking nurse who thrives in high-stress environments and is passionate about providing top-tier psychiatric care within an emergency setting.
Key Responsibilities:Deliver compassionate and effective psychiatric nursing care to patients within the emergency department
Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to interventions
Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health specialists, and ER staff for integrated care
Maintain a calm and therapeutic environment while managing acute psychiatric crises
Adhere to safety protocols, hospital procedures, and documentation standards
Active RN license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in a high-acuity emergency room setting (required)
Psychiatric nursing experience strongly preferred
Current BLS certification (required)
Strong communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills
