Join Our Team: Public Safety Officer  

Department of Public Safety – Canisius University  
Location: Buffalo, NY  
Position Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Hourly

Canisius University is seeking a Public Safety Officer to join our team and help protect our campus while maintaining the trust and cooperation of our diverse community. What You'll Do:  

• Ensure Safety: Enforce criminal and traffic laws, college regulations, and ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.  

• Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies, investigate incidents, and take appropriate action in crisis situations.  

• Community Engagement: Interact effectively with a variety of campus community members, providing information, assistance , and maintaining a visible, approachable presence.  

• Reporting & Documentation: Prepare clear, factual reports on incidents, activities, and investigations.  

• Maintain Trust: Work towards building and maintaining trust through integrity, professionalism, and cooperation with the campus community.  

Shift Schedule:  

• The shift schedule for this role will be determined by seniority and any changes made by team members. It could be a first, second, or third shift , with third shift being most likely. Flexibility and a commitment to the needs of the department are important.  

 

Qualifications:  

• U.S. citizen, at least 21 years of age.  

• 2 years of college education or equivalent experience in law enforcement, security, or military.  

• Certified New York State Security Officer with a valid NY State Driver’s License and Pistol Permit.  

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including running, lifting, and restraining individuals.  

• Good physical condition with satisfactory hearing and vision.  

Compensation & Benefits:  

• Hourly Salary: $18.00 per hour
