The College of Pharmacy is seeking a Recruiter, Admissions and Enrollment . Under the direction of the Director of Admissions in the Office of Professional Education, this position performs the leadership and operations functions for recruitment and associated event management for the College of Pharmacy (COP). This is a full-time position, requiring travel and some work outside the posted 8am-5pm schedule.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Recruit & Retain Prospective & Current Students for College of Pharmacy

  • Recruit and inform PharmD prospective students through in-person (including site visits), online meetings, email, or telephone communication.
  • Provide presentations and meetings for PharmD prospective students and their guests to promote enrollment in the College of Pharmacy.
  • Provide quality and timely responses to all student inquiries regarding interest in the COP.
  • Utilize a variety of social media and communication methods to engage with prospective students and generate interest in enrolling in the COP.


Application Processing and Evaluation

  • Participate in the admissions review and process to provide insight about candidate application and readiness.
  • Counsel and advise prospective and current students and their families concerning admission policies, procedures, application materials and other relevant information.


Student Transition Services

  • Provide information and advice to prospective and new students and parents/family members about professional student life to ease transition from undergraduate to professional program.
  • May assist with orientation services.


Communication and Outreach

  • Represent the COP to external stakeholders, primarily prospective students, their families, pre-health advisors, faculty, as well as current UI students.
  • Plan and implement student outreach activities primarily focusing on our region and surrounding states.
  • Utilize social media and current and emerging methods for communicating with stakeholders.
  • Supervise the Pharmacy Student Ambassador Network of ambassadors (PSAN), including hiring and training ambassadors on admissions requirements, effective storytelling, panel etiquette, and tour presentations.

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, education, communication, counseling or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Experience Required

  • Experience in admissions, recruitment, student services, sales, or marketing.
  • Adept using various social media outlets.
  • Record of extensive use of various modes of communication to relay concepts or procedures to people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • History of structuring events efficiently and with attention to detail.
  • Use of web-based applications, video conference software, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Experience preparing and delivering informative, motivating, and persuasive presentations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to meet University of Iowa Fleet Services standards.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience in higher education.
  • Previous experience in recruitment of students.
