Position: Scrum Master
Description:
Blue Sky is seeking a Scrum Master who will serve as a key facilitator and agile coach for a cross-functional team supporting a well-known U.S. federal government agency. This role supports the iterative development, operations, and maintenance of public-facing websites. The Scrum Master will ensure that agile principles are followed, facilitate effective collaboration among team members and stakeholders, and support continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential functions include: facilitating all Scrum ceremonies (Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, Reviews); guiding the team and organization in effectively applying Agile Scrum practices and values; supporting the Product Owner with backlog management and acceptance criteria; coordinating user stories, sprint goals, and deliverables using Jira and Confluence; identifying and removing impediments; fostering a collaborative environment; coordinating with the Agile Release Train (ART); ensuring team adherence to SAFe Agile methodologies; promoting UCD principles and accessibility standards; collaborating with developers, UX, content strategists, and stakeholders.
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master in an agile environment. Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and SAFe methodologies. Proficiency using Jira and Confluence for Agile project tracking. Previous experience managing large-scale website development. Excellent facilitation, coaching, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams (UX, content development, QA).
Certifications: Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent; SAFe 5 Scrum Master or Advanced Scrum Master Certification preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Conditions: Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the U.S., pass a background investigation, complete required trainings, and be able to work core government hours (9:30 AM – 2:30 PM local time).
Highly Desired Skills: Experience with federal digital services or government environments, familiarity with Section 508 and accessibility standards, understanding of Executive Order on Transforming Federal Customer Experience, knowledge of USWDS, Drupal 10, analytics tools (SiteImprove, Google Analytics, HotJar, Optimal Workshop), exposure to DevOps and Continuous Integration.
