Opportunity:  Social Media Manager

Bottom Line Up Front:  Hoplite Group is seeking a Social Media Manager to support contracted services for the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Public Affairs Directorate (CCPA). This contract will include executing communication strategies and ensuring accurate, timely information to U.S. and regional audiences. It will employ digital tools to monitor, collect, translate, and analyze traditional and social media across CENTCOM’s 21-nation area of responsibility, supporting senior leader decision-making, correcting misinformation, and aiding counter-propaganda efforts. Services will include strategic communication planning, media engagement, crisis response, training, and quality assurance . The Social Media Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, management, and execution of CCPA’s English and foreign-language social media and website platforms, ensuring both creative design and technical functionality. This role includes supervising Regional Media Specialists in the development and synchronization of regional and language-specific communication plans while maintaining strict compliance with CENTCOM and DoD security requirements. The manager conducts detailed statistical analysis of digital platforms to track viewership, followership, and engagement trends, providing leadership with actionable insights and recommendations. They are responsible for developing and publishing frequent social media and website content, particularly during crises or at the direction of senior leadership, while also producing monthly reports on digital media performance and best practices. Additionally, the manager creates forward-looking publication plans, monitors influential voices in CENTCOM’s information environment, and maintains updated databases of articles and talking points. Given the mission’s dynamic nature, the Social Media and Website Content Manager must also be prepared to provide 24/7 surge support during crises or unforeseen events.

Location: Primary:   CENTCOM HQ, MacDill AFB; other anticipated work locations include TBD travel locations within CONUS, or at locations within the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Travel: May be required to support CENTCOM exercises held in the CONUS, and OCONUS, specifically, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, and Jordan. The component exercises are held in: Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Lebanon, and Israel. Travel can include travel both inside and outside of the CENTCOM AOR.

Availability:   Anticipate Spring-Summer 2026 start date.

Objective:   Execute the following job responsibilities in support of the CENTCOM Public Affairs Directorate:
  • Plan and manage CCPA’s English-language social media and website platforms, as well as foreign-language social media platforms, including creative design and technical maintenance.
  • Oversee Regional Media Specialists in the planning, development, coordination, and synchronization of regional and language-specific communication plans.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of social media and website platforms, tracking viewership and followership by URLs, regions, and other factors to provide CCPA leadership with trend analysis relevant to the CENTCOM AOR.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, synchronize, and produce frequent posts for CCPA’s social media and website platforms, especially during crisis events or at the request of senior CENTCOM leadership.
  • Maintain security compliance for all CCPA social media and website platforms, ensuring adherence to CENTCOM and DoD security requirements and policies.
  • Support emergent 24/7 surge requirements outside normal working hours during crises, unforeseen events, or as directed by CCPA leadership.
  • Update CCPA’s English-language social media and website platforms regularly.
  • Track social media aliases of influential individuals and organizations within CENTCOM-related information environments, make recommendations for engagement, and maintain a daily updated database of articles and talking points in OneNote.
  • Provide monthly written reports with insights and best practices regarding CENTCOM-related digital media platform usage (English and regional languages), including executive-level summaries and recommendations on timing, platforms, and content prioritization.
  • Develop and deliver a three-week digital media publication plan, by platform and by language, in coordination with Regional Media Specialists.

  • Reporting: prepare reports, summaries, or presentations based on analysis to communicate findings to relevant stakeholders within the organization.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: continuously monitor sources for new information relevant to the organization and set up alerts or notifications to ensure timely awareness of important developments.
  • Risk Assessment: assess potential risks and opportunities based on the information gathered, helping the organization to make informed decisions and mitigate potential threats.
  • Collaboration: collaborate with other Specialists or departments within the organization to share insights and coordinate responses to emerging issues.
  • Tool and Technology Utilization: stay updated on tools and technologies used for information gathering and analysis, such as data mining software, social media monitoring tools, and analytical platforms.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: engage with external stakeholders to exchange information, collaborate on analysis efforts, and build partnerships for mutual benefit.
  • Legal and Ethical Compliance: ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards governing the collection and use of publicly and commercially available information, including privacy laws and intellectual property rights.
  • Training and Development: provide training to colleagues on effective methods for gathering and analyzing publicly and commercially available information or contribute to the development of best practices within the organization.
  • Crisis Response: During crisis situations or emergencies, provide real-time updates and analysis to support decision-making and response efforts.
  • Quality Assurance: ensure the accuracy, relevance, and reliability of the information analyzed, employing rigorous quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of data integrity.
  • Strategic Planning: participate in strategic planning processes by providing insights and recommendations based on the analysis of publicly and commercially available information, helping to shape the organization's goals and priorities.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience managing and executing social media strategies and website content for large organizations, preferably within government, military, or international contexts.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, analytics tools, and digital content management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct statistical analysis of digital platforms, providing insights on viewership, followership, engagement, and regional trends.
  • Experience developing and implementing digital media publication plans, including multi-platform, multilingual strategies.
  • Familiarity with CENTCOM’s mission and the dynamics of the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Knowledge of DoD and CENTCOM policies, including social media security and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and content creation skills with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences across multiple platforms.
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills, with experience overseeing regional or language-specific communication teams or specialists.
  • Ability to track and analyze activity from influential individuals and organizations across digital platforms and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, OneNote, social media scheduling software, and analytics dashboards.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to produce high-quality reports, summaries, and briefings for senior leadership.
  • Flexibility to support 24/7 surge operations during crises or unforeseen events as directed by CCPA leadership.
Certifications, Training, & Education:
  • Top Secret/Secure Classified Information (TS/SCI) Security Clearance Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, International Relations, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
