Job Description

Responsibilities 

  • Teach Spanish language and richness and variety of Hispanic cultures.
  • Responsible for all aspects of lesson planning, instruction, and assessment (George School has a modified block schedule of 7 terms. The faculty teach 2 classes per term for 6 terms, and 3 classes for 1 term.).
  • Foster a dynamic, interactive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Partner collaboratively with Spanish teaching team and other members of Language Department
  • Lead student foreign travel and service-learning groups.
  • Serve on a school committee (waived in the first year)
  • Advise approximately ten students (waived in the first year)
  • Perform other community contributions, which may include coaching a sport, supervising a club, social or dorm activities, or evening study hall.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish; native speaker preferred.
  • Experience teaching Spanish.
  • Experience teaching Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate curricula preferred.
  • Experience using or integrating technology tools to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Openness to exploring innovative teaching strategies and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • A willingness to take pedagogical risks to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Interest in being a part of the community life at a boarding school.
  • Commitment to working towards antiracism and developing and practicing cultural competency.
