Job Description

The Senior Application Analyst provides technical and development expertise in the activities of software application design, implementation, issue resolution and support. This position may be directly involved in formulating and defining system scope and objectives based on user needs and guidelines set forth in the Institution Project Management Methodology. This position is directly involved with the installation, modification, testing, implementation, and maintenance of purchased vendor software and in-house developed applications. This position is responsible for the design and development of complex solutions through business needs assessment. The position may be responsible for project management duties as assigned. This position is responsible for the daily production support of installed software, the on-call recovery procedures and documentation for such software, user and technical support. This position requires broad based business process knowledge with the experience and expertise to utilize
that knowledge to design and implement programmatic solutions to business requirements. This position contributes to the development of standards and processes that other team members follow. This position may mentor others with respect to design and development of solutions. This position will support all Institutional HCM related system software, applications and interfaces.

Development and Analysis
Be able to express oneself clearly in conversations and interactions with others. May be a Team Lead for our HCM implementation initiatives including facilitating meetings, lead standard project implementation processes including requirements gathering, solution design, gap analysis, functional design specifications for our system needs, system configuration, testing, and complete detailed documentation leveraging standardized templates. Provide consulting and system support throughout the project life cycle to our business partners by conveying industry trends, enterprise technology strategy and define technical solutions which meet the needs of the business. Stay abreast on business and technology trends to understand impact on our current service line portfolio. Work with enterprise architects, project teams, functional and technical analysts to design solution architecture that meets operational requirements and is scalable, easily maintained, secure and highly available. Work with other Project Teams to facilitate alignment for decisions that render good products and services.

Technical Knowledge and understanding of Business Processes
Holds or participates in regular project/work sessions with staff and business users to discuss priorities. May lead the teams to improve the current state of the business processes and systems knowledge. This will include updates to critical documentation of configuration guides, business process flows, testing scripts, technical design, and any additional needed project documentation. This support includes but not limited to, development, implementations, upgrades, and testing. This position is also responsible for the daily production support of installed software, the on-call recovery procedures and documentation for such software, user and technical support, and technical project management responsibilities as assigned. Shares knowledge of MD Anderson, technical expertise, and functional processes and procedures. Technically stay abreast of new functionality and industry trends and standards and present finding to other team members. Be able to identify the information needed to clarify a problem or situation, seek that information from appropriate sources, and use skillful questioning to draw out the information. Organizes and expresses ideas clearly in oral speech and maintains eye contact when speaking with others. Summarizes or paraphrases his/her understanding of what others have said to verify understanding and prevent miscommunication. This is key when gathering requirements, writing specifications and conducting meetings with customers.

Education Required:
Bachelor's degree.

Experience Required:
Five years' experience in domain, analysis, design, project management, Epic software or programming. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis.

Preferred Experience:
Experience with PeopleSoft, Kronos and Talent Management applications or other Cloud HCM systems.
Experience working on large scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests from the business.

Six years' experience in business analysis, workflow analysis, or process improvement.
Strong ability to successfully manage multiple tasks at any given point, strong relationship building skills &communication skills.
Excellent ability to translate business processes into software requirements.
Excellent specification-writing and estimation abilities for scoping work in a complex, highly collaborative environment.
Superior problem solving, organizational, decision-making, written, oral and interpersonal skills.
