The Population Health Intern will support the Population Health team in its efforts to improve HEDIS quality measures and advance health equity initiatives in collaboration with primary care providers. This internship offers hands-on experience in public health data analysis, strategic planning, and provider engagement. The intern will assist with report generation, brainstorming solutions for social determinants of health (SDoH), and preparing materials for internal and external meetings.
Pull and organize data reports to support HEDIS quality improvement initiatives.
Support meeting preparation by creating agendas, slide decks, and summary documents.
Assist in identifying trends and gaps in care across primary care practices.
Collaborate with team members to develop strategies that promote health equity and improve patient outcomes.
Participate in cross-functional discussions to understand the systems and factors that influence population health.
Real-time exposure to population health strategy within a healthcare organization, including how insurance and care delivery models influence health outcomes
Critical thinking and strategic planning skills through active participation in quality improvement and equity-focused initiatives
Team collaboration and communication by working closely with clinical and non-clinical staff across departments
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Health, Health Administration, or a related field
Understanding of public health principles, practices, and methodologies
Knowledge of health equity, health literacy, and social determinants of health
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present data and findings clearly
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Experience working with healthcare data or quality metrics (e.g., HEDIS)
Familiarity with community health or provider engagement initiatives
Interest in health policy, care coordination, or value-based care models
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Health, Health Administration, or a related field
