Position Summary:

The Welcome Center Representative is the first friendly face members and guests meet when they arrive. Under the direction of the Membership Director, this role is responsible for providing excellent service, accurate information, and a warm, welcoming environment in alignment with YMCA policies and mission.

Candidates must be skilled in communication, detail-oriented with program and membership information, and able to create positive connections with all who come through our doors. Strong computer skills, sound decision-making, confidentiality, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.

 Qualifications:

  • Current Red Cross First Aid and Adult CPR/AED certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire)
  • Ability to build positive, authentic relationships with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and ADA compliance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Customer service and sales skills, with the ability to connect members and non-members to programs and services that meet their needs
  • Proficiency with computers and registration systems

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create a welcoming environment by greeting members by name, making eye contact, and engaging in friendly conversation
  • Use Listen First skills to understand and respond to member needs
  • Provide accurate membership and program information in a courteous manner
  • Assist with registrations for programs, camp, and childcare
  • Introduce members to other members, staff, or opportunities to foster connection and belonging
  • Respond promptly and courteously to inquiries and concerns
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and support colleagues as needed
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings
  • Maintain reliable transportation and commitment to working all scheduled shifts
  • Embody YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all interactions
