Duties

Essential Job Functions:
  • Work with mentor to conduct crime scene investigations.
  • Assist with photograph and video record crime scenes and vehicle collision scenes.
  • Assist with collecting and preserving physical evidence at crime scenes.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Qualifications: Current college student and has taken courses in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or closely related subject.
Learning Goals
  • Learn the varied duties and job functions of the Investigative Division and how each duty and function assist with the Police Department Goals.
  • Develop a working knowledge of managing a variety of Investigative situations simultaneously.
  • Gain a better understanding of the Delray Beach Police Department.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current college student or recent graduate majoring in Forensic Science, Criminology, Political Science, Business Administration, Photography, and related field.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, bend and stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Works inside in an office environment.
