Department: Public Safety

Work Type: Full Time

Shift: Shift 2/3:00:00 PM to 11:30:00 PM

Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $23.57 - $31.83 / hour

Summary

Assigns, directs, and supervises officers to efficiently maintain a safe, secure environment. Follows broad instructions and operates within the guidelines of System policies plus applicable local, state, and federal laws in carrying out those duties. May be required to engage and physically control acts of aggression and threatened acts of violence. This position is armed qualified. Employees not eligible for armed status may not obtain position level higher than Public Safety Officer I.

Requirements

Education:Associates degree from an accredited college or 4 years of supervisory experience in law enforcement, military, or healthcare safety and security required.

Experience:2 years of supervisory experience in healthcare safety and security including service as a Lee Health Public Safety Lead Officer, law enforcement, military, or corrections required.

Certification:N/A

License:Valid Florida drivers license within 30 days of employment. Class D Security License from FL Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services: need state issued license or proof of application (state issued acknowledgement card) within first 30 days of employment. Proof of State issued license to be provided within 90 days. Must be eligible to obtain a Class G license. All license/certification must always be current and active.

Other:Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing in order to carry out and communicate safety instructions. Bilingual: English/Spanish highly preferred. Able to multi-task in a high paced stressful environment and keep calm in all situations. Proficient in use of computers and printers, and/or ability to learn appropriate software applications. Proficiency in Microsoft applications. Able to assess emergency situations and control disorderly conduct situations and combative patients. This position requires the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays. This job may also require working during natural disasters, including hurricanes. Must be committed to quality customer service effectively promoting Exceptional Lee principles.
